Evidence Layers

underConstruction

This page describes the evidence layers generated by GUT from the user-defined inputs. Each layer can be found in the ‘EvidenceLayers’ folder. The evidence layers are shown in alphabetical order by filename. A cursory explanation of how the evidence layer was generated is provided. For full documentation please see the source code.

Bed Slope Standard Deviation Raster (bedSlopeSD.tif)

Bankfull Channel Raster (bfCh.tif)

xxxx

Bankfull Surface Slope Raster (bfSlope.tif)

Smoothed Bankfull Surface Slope Raster (bfSlope_Smooth.tif)

Smoothed Bankfull Surface Slope Cateogry Polygon (bfSlope_Smooth_Cat.shp)

Channel Edge Polygon (channelEdge.shp)

xxxx

Channel Nodes Points (channelNodes.shp)

xxxx

Channel Margin Raster (chMargin.tif)

Region between the bankfull extet and wetted extent. Buffered slightly into the wetted channel (default: 10% wetted width).

Contour Node Points (e.g., channelNodes_Thalwegs.shp)

xxxx

Contour Polygons (e.g., channelPolygons_Thalwegs.shp)

xxxx

DEM Contour Lines (DEM_Contours.shp)

DEM contours (default: 10 cm [bfw < 12 m]; 20 cm [bfw >= 12 m]).

Smoothed DEM Raster (DEM_mean.tif)

xxxx

Smoothed In-Channel DEM Raster (inCh_DEM.tif)

xxxx

Meander Bend Index (mBendIndex.tif)

Approximation of meander bends along the bankfull channel edge. Calculated over a bfw x bfw moving window. For each bankfull channel edge cell, difference the number of dry (out-of-channel) and wet (in-channel) cells. Adapted from Van De Wiel et al (2007) and Coulthard and Van De Wiel (2006).

Residual Pool Depth Raster (resDepth.tif)

Difference between filled DEM and DEM.

Residual Topography Raster (resTopo.tif)

Approximation of local relief calculated by subtracting the smoothed DEM (mean within moving window) from the DEM (default window size: bfw x bfw). Adapted from Sofia et al (2014)

In-Channel DEM Slope Raster (slope_inCh_DEM.tif)

DEM slope in degrees.
